Breaks are usually signalled by the apito, with or without hand signals.

This break came from the old Stev Stills song 'Love the One You're With.'. In the middle, there's a stop, where they all sing "dit doo, dit doo, dit doo di dit" a couple of times. That's this break.

This break is introduced by 4 beats on the agogos, which is repeated every time the pattern comes around. The main rhythm is based on the old samba 'partido alto' rhythm. The repenique then plays the quickstart chamada and we're back into the samba groove.
